In depth

Verdict

Steve Gollings is keeping Romany Prince busy and the move can reap further reward in this company. Explosive Fox and Weston Rock are other in-form rivals that can give him the most to think about this afternoon. Rifleman is also worth a mention, as he has bits and pieces of form that give him claims in this company. However, he is not the strongest of battlers and he will always be susceptible to a more determined rival in a finish. Weston Rock endured all sorts of problems last year and is a credit to his connections that he is racing at all. He fully deserved his last time out success and should make another bold bid today. As should Explosive Fox, who returned to hurdling with an emphatic defeat of Festive Chimes at Uttoxeter on the same day. However, a literal reading of that form very much makes Romany Prince the one to beat. A classy performer from the Flat, Romany Prince has the capabilities to cope with his double penalty in this sort of company and he has been found a good opportunity to pay his way again.
