In depth

Verdict

Polar River was an outstanding winner of this a year ago for Doug Watson and his Complimenti did very well to chase home REALLY SPECIAL in last month's trial with Rajar in third, Sasha Waltz fourth, Calare fifth, Nomorerichblondes seventh and both Voice Of Truth and Spanish Moon tailed off. The winner, a Listed winner over this trip at Newmarket, still looked green and the 7f trip will have been short enough so she should confirm the form with those who finished behind her. Richard Fahey, who trains Rajar, could have a better chance with Melesina, a Group 3 winner on Turf at Deauville in October. Mike De Kock saddles Fursa, a Group 2 winner at Turffontein and just touched off at the highest level at Scottsville in June. Mickael Barzalona was on board when Nashmiah won a Group 1 over the trip in Saudi Arabia though it's difficult to get a line on the form.
