Verdict
Mark Johnston won the last renewal in 2019 and runs five in a wide-open contest. Trumpet Man completed a hat-trick over 2m last year while Themaxwecan finished a decent second in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket and that pair are preferred to Notation. Ian Williams’ sends three but CARDANO stands out on his progressive recent form on the all-weather having completed a double over 1m4f at Lingfield. He should stay this far and makes more appeal than Nate The Great, a winner over 2m at Wolverhampton with Stargazer back in third. William Carver's mount is also preferred to stablemate Diocletian. Alright Sunshine is fit from hurdling and is only 2lb higher than when last scoring on the Flat.
