In depth

Verdict

Atomix won a bumper here in February and showed the benefit of his hurdles debut with a much better run at Newcastle where he appreciated the softer ground. MIDDLEBROW, who won a Ballinrobe bumper before a narrow defeat at Kelso on his first start over hurdles, started a short-priced favourite at Sedgefield next time but ran a shocker which the stewards noted. Nothing was reported amiss so hopefully he'll be back to his best here. Monfass showed a bit of potential in a bumper here and though beaten a long way on his hurdling debut he would have hated the fast ground so should do better. Pot Committed appeared to find 2m4f stretching his stamina at Ayr while The Phantom has been beaten a distance on both starts over hurdles. Nicky Richards' newcomer Convoi Exceptional is a half-brother to the very useful Felix Yonger and wouldn't need to be half as good to make a successful debut.
