        Verdict

        Master Cobbler has shown enough to be worth recommending here, with Kindling and Desperation the main dangers. Gerard Butler's juvenile did well at Bath last time, finishing second to one of Mick Channon's inmates, Haatmey, after a slow start. Having been confined to sprint trips on his first two starts, the step up to a mile and a quarter was a big leap, but much more in keeping with his breeding, and as he meets nothing special here, he should go close. Kindling stayed on over seven furlongs at Redcar just over a fortnight ago but that was on fast ground, while Desperation was not beaten far on the new Polytrack at Wolverhampton 10 days ago. They appear to be the best of the opposition, but Master Cobbler has been given the perfect opportunity to open his account and is the one to beat under champion-elect Frankie Dettori.
