Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

LUCAYAN DANCER is a regular and reliable type at this grade and is preferred to Johnston¿s Baby and Rowan Lodge. The selection was second at the last time of asking, and although he would have preferred a more truly run race he ran well and should continue to give a good account. The David Nicholls trained gelding has preference for this trip and looks capable of snatching a victory here. Johnston¿s Baby has been runner-up at the last two attempts. She made her flat turf debut last time and the step up in trip suited her well and she looks to have more to offer, though a finish as runner-up for the third time in a row looks most likely. Ollie Pears' Rowan Lodge was a winner over distance at Beverly last time, after a three month absence. He hit a good vein of form this time last year, but whether he can repeat that remains to be seen. He¿ll have a stiff test here and a finish in the minors looks in all likelihood. Dancing Lyra looks best of the remainder but has been a little unreliable of late so may be best watched. Check the market for clues on the rest, but for us Lucayan Dancer gets the verdict.
