Verdict
A highly informative days' racing gets underway with a fairly competitive renewal of the race known formerly as the John Porter Stakes. Geoff Wragg has made a fine start to the campaign and, having saddled the runner-up of this race twelve months ago is fancied to go one better with Asian Heights. The son of Hernando has had more than his fair share of training problems including a split pastern which have curtailed his career but the five-year-old has still proved himself a top class middle distance performer and lifted the Group 3 September Stakes last year before running below his best in the Arc de Triomphe. Asian Heights goes well fresh having won first-time out for the last two seasons and has proven winning form on a quick surface so should prove hard to beat under Darryll Holland. Last year's St Leger winner Bollin Eric faces no easy task over this shorter trip under a 6lb penalty while Nysaean could find these conditions faster than ideal. Warrsan is a consistent type and hails from an in-form yard so has to be respected but Pawn Broker meets stiffer competition after landing a conditions event at Ascot last month.
