        Verdict

        John Gosden sets a poser by saddling two newcomers here, the half-sister to Showpiece Enchanted Princess and American-bred Torchlight, either of whom could be good enough to win first time up but preference is for Multistore, who is taken to put her experience to good use. Roger Charlton's filly created a favourable impression when second on her debut at Chepstow and, on more suitable going today, she is taken to go one better. The James Eustace-trained Last Appointment showed enough on his Lingfield debut to suggest that he can win races but this looks tougher and, with Alex Stewart's string in good form, Plum may rate a bigger threat among those with racing experience. The market is likely to provide a decent clue as to the claims of Mick Channon's newcomer Jimmy Byrne.
