In depth

Verdict

If Precious Mystery is half as good as the rest of Alan King¿s juveniles, then she could make a winning start at the expense of the likes of fellow newcomers Bernini, Montevideo and German raider Windhund to name but three. Precious Mystery was nothing special on the Flat, losing her maiden tag in moderate company at Yarmouth in September, but has been schooled extensively over timber and will lack for nothing preparation. With Robert Thornton in the saddle, she could turn out to be another string to King¿s Triumph Hurdle bow. Bernini, a Southwell winner in March, is only lightly raced and has the scope to do well over hurdles, now that he is with a top yard. Jonjo O¿Neill saddles both Seeyaj and Montevideo, so the market may provide the best clues. As for Windhund, he showed nothing in three starts on the level in Germany, but his trainer knows the time of day over here by now. An interesting contest then, with Precious Mystery the selection to small stakes
