Verdict
Fourth Dimension looks to be on the upgrade, and is fancied to score a second successive victory here, while Mac and Essnaad could be the best of the rest. The latter was very disappointing at Goodwood last time, but had earlier bolted up in maiden company and Barry Hills' three-year-old is only lightly-raced so probably worth another chance. Mac could hardly have been more impressive when winning by nine lengths over course and distance on his last start, and the handicapper has not been too harsh in raising Marcus Tregoning's gelding by ten pounds. However, this is a stiffer task and we just prefer top weight Fourth Dimension, for whom Alec Stewart has booked Kieren Fallon. This four-year-old colt landed a hat trick of wins last year and was scoring for the first time this season when beating Trainedbythebest by a smooth length and a half at Sandown. That could well signal another sequence, and with the strong pace he likes virtually guaranteed here, we take Fourth Dimension to score again.
