Verdict
This is a good juvenile contest, with some nice sorts in the line-up, but Coverntry runner-up Botanical is fancied to go one better, with Orcadian and Psychiatrist the biggest dangers. David Loder's colt began his career with a smooth win at York and chased home the highly regarded Three Valleys at Ascot. He should improve again for that, and although this is by no means an easy race, it should be slightly easier than Ascot and he is fancied to regain the winning thread. Psychiatrist got his head in front at the third time of asking at Goodwood recently, scoring in stylish fashion, and while it has taken Richard Hannon's colt a while to get his act together, there may now be more improvement to come. After a promising debut, Orcadian beat a hotpot in subsequent scorer Convince at Windsor, is held in high regard by trainer James Eustace, and could easily be good enough to reach the frame here. The fact that Bessemer is trained by Mark Johnston means he cannot be ruled out, but Milk It Mick faces a stiff task under his penalty, and we take Botanical to land the spoils.
