Verdict
The Tatling has won this contest in each of the last two years but Milton Bradley's nine-year-old has not been in the same form this year and a safer bet looks to be Dandy Man, who gets the vote ahead of Eisteddfod. The selection looked a horse to keep on the right side of when successful at Newmarket back in May and nothing since then has changed that view. His latest effort at York is best ignored as the ground was too testing and that may again be the only worry here; however, he will almost certainly be taken out should the going go against him again. Celtic Mill has come back to form of late but this looks tougher, while Great St Wilfred winner Excusez Moi may not be up to this class. Pivotal Flame deserves to win a race of this nature and has to be considered although more solid claims are probably held by Eisteddfod, who showed something of a return to form last time. If the rain does arrive then he would have every chance but, in the hope that it stays dry, Dandy Man is the selection.
