Verdict

A fascinating sprint in which there is little to choose between eight of the nine runners; the final vote goes to TOTAL GALLERY who has improved this season and has conditions to suit. Stan Moore's Namid colt was a game winner of a decent handicap at Newmarket in July before running well in second at Goodwood late in the month. He is a strong traveller and as long as Richard Hughes gets a clearer run through than at Goodwood, the feeling is that he should run a big race. Triple Aspect is another of the three-year-old brigade who likes to be held up; he couldn't take advantage of a good draw at Sandown last time out but if he gets the gaps today then he should go close with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle. Spin Cycle tries a visor for the first time; Bryan Smart's runner didn't fare badly against Strike The Deal last time out at Doncaster but they race off the same terms today. Strike The Deal seemed to click with Keiren Fallon last time out and the duo cannot be taken lightly along with Sohraab who has had a busy year but continues to hold his form well. JJ The Jet Plane is the class act in the race, or at least he was before three poor runs this summer. He now looks one to be wary of. Captain Gerard and Look Busy (penalised for a Group Two win in May) are both good on their day but both may struggle in this company and so it is Total Gallery who receives the tentative nomination.
