In depth

Verdict

A low draw is a plus in a big field on the round course and Other Routes, who shaped quite well at Nottingham on Wednesday, looks well placed in stall four to gain his first win for over a year. A dual-winner over a mile last year, including once in October, this is clearly his time of year and while there is a slight doubt about over this trip, the way he was staying on at the death on Wednesday suggests this nine-furlongs could prove ideal. Thunderclap isn't entirely straightforward, but he does have ability if he cares to use it. He will be well handled by his rider Liam Treadwell, who impressed at Yarmouth earlier in the week when steering Rojabaa to victory. On Guard may find this trip on the sharp side, while Princess Shoka, although in-form, lacks consistency and is normally one to take on. He Who Dares is interesting off just a 2lbs higher mark than when bolting up at Lingfield, but he does have to prove his stamina. However, he is related to a hurdles winner so there must be a fair chance he will stay this far. Persian Pearl ran better than her final position at Yarmouth suggest, but she, along with the likes of Man The Gate and Escalade look to have plenty of from poor draws. So, a chance is taken with Other Routes to confirm the recent promise shown earlier this week.
