Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

A maximum turnout for this nursery, but this isn't as competitive as it might first seem and can safely be whittled down to a handful of runners including Esti Ab, Marble Garden, the unexposed Celtic Heroine and Free Trip, with the latter getting the nod. A winner of two of his four races, he ran his best race in defeat when chasing home Danzig River at Newmarket. From the same family as the high-class trio of Rainbow Quest, Warning and Commander In Chief he can be expected to find plenty of improvement for this stiffer test. Celtic Heroine impressed when scoring at Lingfield and this half-sister to the top-class Celtic Swing Racing Post Trophy/French Derby winner, is sure to have learnt from this and doesn't look badly treated on this first venture into handicap company on a mark of 75. Esti Ab hasn't been done any favours by the raising of the weights, but this Danehill colt, who didn't make his debut until August is still relatively fresh for this time of year and looks sure to have a say in matters. The main danger could prove to be Marble Garden, who has shown enough in maidens to suggest he can make his mark at this level. His second to Jedburgh was given a boost when the winner followed up at Leicester with horses rated 80, 81 and 90 trailing in his wake. He gets in here off 78, which could prove to be on the light side. However, with this step up in trip in Free Trip's favour, he is the one to be with.
