Verdict
A poor contest filled with mainly disappointing types and the suggestion to small stakes is Shaffishayes to bolster Mary Reveley's excellent record at the track. The 11-year-old has been a fine stable servant down the years and has shown that he retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game with placed efforts on his last two visits to Gosforth Park. The Clantime gelding goes well in the mud and is more reliable than most of his rivals so should give another solid account. Gospel Song ran too freely when disappointing last time but has claims on his previous Hexham victory and should go well despite top weight while Pertemps Cindrella has dropped to a favourable mark and hinted at a return to form last time. The first-time blinkers could help to sharpen her up and the Almoojid mare is respected while Camair Crusader put a series of lacklustre efforts behind him last time and is another to consider for a place.
