    Verdict

There was a lot to like about the effort put in by Donna's Double in a better race than this at Hamilton last week and he is selected as the value call over Tre Colline and Bailieborough, who have done well at this level this season but now look vulnerable at the weights. Another to consider is Killala, who is respected on this drop back to claiming company and has sound each-way chances if he runs anywhere near his best. The four-year-old ran a blinder the last time he raced in this grade and money for him can be considered significant. However, going with the horses for courses theory, Donna's Double could have the measure of this lot if he can stay out of trouble today. Twice a winner over longer distances here in the past, the Don Eddy-trained gelding is a versatile performer regarding his best trip. Which will stand him in good stead as things unfold. Summer Special could also go well out of those likely to be available at longer odds but is a long standing maiden that cannot be relied upon as a win only selection.
