Verdict

Michael Bell, successful 12 months ago with Juniper Girl, is represented this season with Highland Legacy, who can reverse Chester Cup running with Tilt and Double Banded. But he may have to settle for minor honours behind BUKIT TINGGI, whilst the Tony Martin-trained Arc Bleu rates another huge danger. The selection went close to winning the Ascot Stakes last time, just failing to maintain his advantage when headed close home in the 2m4f contest. And he is taken to gain compensation today off the same mark and back over a more suitable trip. Carte Diamond has come back to a reasonable level of form after an absence of over two years and has to be considered off his current mark, while Desert Sea has more to do under his penalty for his recent Sandown success. Arc Bleu has managed to sneak into the race, and if he lasts home then he should not be far away. Adrian Nicholls takes the ride after his father's horse Lost Soldier Three was ruled a non-runner. John Hammond's French raider Far From Old is unproven over this trip but comes from a shrewd yard so has to be considered. Horses such as Ascot Stakes winner Missoula (last year's winner Juniper Girl was second in that race last season), Bollin Derek who looks a stout soft-ground stayer and Bogside Theatre for George Moore (who won this two years back with Toldo and was a narrow second last year with Macorville), all add some more spice to the mix. Gee Dee Nen has more to do than when landing a staying handicap at Haydock last month and preference is for Bukit Tinggi.
