In depth

Verdict

Sir Mark Prescott has few peers regarding the placing of horses as amply demonstrated by the hat-trick achieved by Deauville Dancer last season which saw him rise 21lb in the weights. He was just held by Sunny Future on reappearance and seems sure to contend but does appear to have plenty on at the weights with LONGSHADOW. The latter, a tough stayer, is 11lb better off with the Prescott inmate for the three-quarters of a length that separated them at Thirsk last August. He made an impressive reappearance too when coming clear at Doncaster and could offer some value against the likely favourite. The lightly-raced Moonrise Landing has to be on the shortlist after just three runs for Ralph Beckett stepping up to 2m for the first time, whilst the consistent Knightly Escapade is a solid each-way option for Brian Ellison as he hardly knows how to run a bad race.
