    Verdict

    There is very little to split these on form but Self Evident showed his Ascot run to be all wrong last time and he is fancied to gain a third success of what has been a rewarding season for his connections. Halawellfin Hala is a tough campaigner and will give the selection plenty to think about and is preferred to Island Light and the frustrating Zonergem to chase the selection home. Self Evident is well treated on terms of this race and would be giving a little weight away all round if this were a handicap. However, as things stand he comes into the race only needing to run up to his recent level to justify the official assessor's belief that he is the best horse in the race.
