In depth

Verdict

VJ DAY showed plenty of ability on Turf last year and wintered well. He’s been in very good form on Tapeta this spring and was only headed close home at Newcastle last time so should give a good account. Galloway Hills has also been going well on the all-weather but has it all to do to reverse Kempton running in February with Tribal Quest, who has plenty of scope. Yafta ended last season in fine form and there is no reason why he can’t progress further this term. Chagatai’s only failure so far came in the National Stakes but Count Otto looks to be facing a stiff task under top weight and Barton Mills’ best form has come over 7f.
