Verdict
Aesop's Fables and Royal Scotsman are both Group 2 winners but the former failed to land the odds in the National Stakes at the Curragh on his latest start while the latter disappointed in the Gimcrack at York in August. Marbaan was behind Aesop's Fables at the Curragh but reportedly didn’t handle the soft going. Naval Power, Isaac Shelby and NOSTRUM all defend unbeaten records but the latter is probably the most interesting of that trio. The Kingman colt has won both starts with the proverbial ton in hand and should take this step up in grade in his stride, even though he’s likely to prove even better at three. Chaldean has done nothing but improve since making his debut at Newbury in June and can’t be dismissed out of hand.
