Stayers from predominantly NH yards have a terrific record in this marathon. Willie Mullins won it three times in a row between 2018 and 2020 and has three entered this year. Baby Zeus has yet to race beyond 1m5f on the Flat but William Buick rides and he may outshine stablemates Gibraltar and Scaramanga. Withhold won this in 2017 but was tailed off last year and is not the force of old. Zoffee looked a bit unlucky at York in August and Frankie rides for a yard that’s won this a couple of times while Ryan Moore is on board Nicky Henderson’s Ahorsewithnoname, who is on a hat-trick after victories at Newbury and York – the stable won this last year. Only a head separated Going Gone and HMS President over 1m7f at Doncaster and both could figure again if they last home while Prince Imperial and Call My Bluff were second and third respectively in a trial for this here last month. FAVORITE MOON, formerly with William Haggas, won a maiden hurdle over 2m3f last month and was staying on in a premier handicap over 2m1f at Galway earlier so this trip should suit. Evaluation has already had a terrific season and Run For Oscar has stamina in abundance while Vino Victrix was always travelling best when scoring at Goodwood and champion apprentice Benoit De La Sayette takes off 3lb again.
