In depth

Verdict

MONTIRIDGE just failed to hold off the attentions of Gale Force Ten in the Jersey Stakes at Ascot last time. Arguably even better over this extra furlong, the Hannon colt can return to winning ways. Ashdan is the most interesting of today's opposition on his first start since finishing fourth to Dawn Approach in last year's Dewhurst. But the suspicion he'll come into his own over middle-distances is given some credence by an entry in the Great Voltigeur St Leger trial at York next month and Alhebayeb makes more appeal on this occasion. The latter's latest fourth at Haydock gives him the edge over the less exposed Race And Status and the disappointing Fantastic Moon.
