Verdict

Not one favourite has been successful in the past ten years though the winner is usually well supported. Three-year-olds have a good recent record which suggests Devilment, a winner over 1m2f as a juvenile, can get involved along with stablemate Gold Trail, who has raced in better company. Gabrial The Hero once looked very promising but it will take a mighty effort from Dave Simcock to have him ready after almost two years off. Phaenomena clearly had something amiss on her reappearance at York and would be difficult to beat on her victory here in September while the last run of Glorious Protector at Ascot should be ignored as he broke a blood vessel. MICA MIKA gave notice of a return to winning ways with a strong performance at Windsor where he appeared a very unlucky loser. With Paul Hanagan replacing an apprentice he can provide Richard Fahey with a successful finale to a superb day's racing.
