In depth
Verdict
Embossed is bound to be popular with backers but there is plenty of speed in his pedigree and preference is for Hallhoo who has proven form over the trip including with cut in the ground and he gets the vote over Sun Kissed. The last mentioned represents the Godolphin stable and has to be respected having gone down narrowly in a decent novice event at Salisbury last time. Mark Johnston's Love Palace appreciated the step up to a mile when landing a Hamilton maiden last month but this looks tougher and of more interest may be Marcus Tregoning's Night Hour, who is open to plenty of improvement and hails from a stable in form. Xtra Torrential made a winning start to his career when winning a York auction maiden last month and could be anything but the form of that race does not look to be out of the ordinary and the vote goes to Hallhoo. Mick Channon has his string in good form and the son of Indian Ridge comes here on the back of fine seconds behind Spaced and Comic Strip last month. The form of those races looks solid and, with the latest of those on a soft surface, he should not be inconvenienced by the cut in the ground.
