In depth
Verdict
A good sprint race, with many of the field in with a chance. Orientor is just about the overall pick on official ratings, but his best form has come with a bit of cut in the ground and he has a little to find to reverse Doncaster form with both Needwood Blade and Falcon Hill. The latter failed to stay a mile at Kempton but will be seen to much better effect back over today's trip. Invincible Spirit will not mind the ground and has a good chance on his best form, but although the stable is going well at present this horse had tended to need or race or two to reach full fitness in the past. Reel Buddy prevailed in a great battle with Continent at Kempton and has decent claims but the selection in a tricky race is Roger Charlton's Welcome Friend. The Kingmambo horse improved throughout last season and is a horse who tends to go well. Although his best form may have been over seven furlongs, he has won at this trip and a decent pace looks assured so he may just be able to pick them off inside the final furlong.
