Verdict
Elarqam failed to fulfil the potential of last year’s fourth in the 2000 Guineas in three subsequent outings and had a wind operation at the end of the season. He may well bounce back in this but MUSTASHRY (NAP) made a winning reappearance in Listed company last year and went on to land a Group 2 contest over a mile here in September. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge beat Zabeel Prince on the latter occasion and looks good enough to defy a penalty in this. Charlie Appleby runs three with last month’s Group 1 Jebel Hatta third First Contact preferred having finished ahead of Forest Ranger at Meydan while Frankie was on board Fajjaj when the latter placed in last year’s German 2000 Guineas and Hugo Palmer’s charge has been gelded subsequently.
