In depth
Verdict
Rare Cross caught the eye on her reappearance and is sure to have her supporters here; Bond City and Judd Street are also worthy of consideration, but it may just be worth taking a chance on the dark horse of the race, Nepro. Rare Cross, trained in Ireland last season, made an encouraging start at Leicester when finishing third in a similar contest, with both Bond City and Alpaga Le Jomage behind. She seems sure to come on for that, and ought to confirm the form with those rivals. Judd Street has been off the course for 12 weeks since finishing third in a competitive race at Kempton and would have an excellent chance if fully fit here. But we'll take a chance on Nepro. Trained in Ireland by David Wachman last year, he was successful at Down Royal and Fairyhouse before finishing an excellent third in a valuable race at The Curragh. This year, he has been plying his trade, to reasonable effect, at such diverse places as Cagnes, Dos Hermanas and Mijas. It is hard to assess the merit of that form, but a mark of 78 seems far from harsh and we'll take a chance on Nepro to record his first win in England.
