Verdict

Peter The Great was only beaten half-a-length by a useful type at Newcastle and should take all the beating here, despite a penalty. John and Thady Gosden also run the War Front colt Shirbo but Simon and Ed Crisford are also doubly represented with a couple of nicely-bred newcomers. Both Alhammaam, related to several winners, and SHERINGHAM are by Lope De Vega. The latter cost 100,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to the smart Cormorant so gets the nod. Mahrajaan is another with a decent pedigree so this might prove an informative contest.
