    Verdict

A trappy stayers' contest here where none of them can be discounted with total confidence and Velvet Heights get the vote. John Dunlop's older horses have performed pretty well this season and this five-year-old has the credentials to win this. He stays well, he has won on good to soft, and he is back on a winning mark, and all of that can add up to another win. John Terry will probably get this extra quarter-of-a-mile and also acts on most ground, but probably wants a drop from the handicapper. Newnham will gets every yard and is a serious contender after a cheeky win at Kempton last time and with a 5lb penalty he has to be very much respected. Ajaan is another who has won on both fast and soft ground, though whether he will stay this far is uncertain. The same can be said of Silver Suitor, while Mirthful has Nijinsky in the pedigree so should be able to get home and as an improving filly is also respected. However, Velvet Heights is not by any means a spent force and can win again here.
