      Verdict

A very competitive listed event kicks off the card and Echelon is a sporting selection to beat stable companion Quickfire and Pintle. Sir Michael Stoute's filly was made a warm favourite for a similar contest at Sandown last month but never got in a blow on that soft ground. With faster conditions expected this afternoon she should be capable of going very close. Quickfire disappointed over six furlongs at Pontefract last time but is better judged on her previous second behind Majestic Desert over this trip at Goodwood. She has a bit to find on official ratings but as she is lightly raced she is open to more improvement. Pintle hit form with a vengeance last time, comfortably beating Sforzando in a Yarmouth handicap. If she can repeat that effort this afternoon she could be capable of reaching the frame. Love Thirty and Attune are two others in with place claims, but Echelon looks the class act here and gets our vote.
