In depth

Verdict

Mythical Kid may well be better than he showed on his reappearance in the Lingfield Derby Trial but Godolphin's colt is hard to back with any confidence judged by his run their although this faster ground may help but a safer option looks to be Hearthstead Maison who gets the vote ahead of Supersonic Dave. The selection stepped up on his reappearance run in the Fielden Stakes when successful in a course and distance handicap at the Guineas meeting. Mark Johnston's colt lost no caste in defeat in the Lingfield Derby Trial, form on which he holds Mythical Kid, on ground that was probably softer than ideal and he is taken to resume winning ways here. Many Volumes has three lengths to find with the selection on Lingfield form but may do better on this faster ground, while Lucarno takes a big step up in class having won a moderate looking maiden at Kempton last time. Monzante has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated and of more interest may be Supersonic Dave, although the form of Brian Meehan's runners has to be of concern. There are no such problems for Hearthstead Maison though and he is preferred.
