        Verdict

        Those with previous experience obviously hold a slight advantage at this time of the season and Fun To Ride, Caveral and Wyatt Earp are all respected in with their claims. However, the well-bred Avessa throws a real spanner in the works as a likely type on breeding and is given a tentative vote to get off the mark at the first time of asking. The daughter of Averti has a lot to live up to being a sister to the high-class sprinter Avonbridge, who won last year's Rockingham Stakes at York. As well as being a half-sister to Prix De l'Abbaye winner, Patavellian, whose record this term speaks volumes about Charlton's ability to get the best out of a sprinter. The Beckhampton-based trainer has enjoyed a twenty four-percent strike-rate with their juveniles this season and looks to have found a weak race to gain an assessment of Avessa as a filly to monitor for the future; whatever happens today. The Barry Hills-trained Fun to Ride could be the one to side with if the market indicates Avessa will benefit from the experience this time around.
