Verdict
The Richard Hannon-trained Binnion Bay has been given a light campaign this season and arrives here as an unexposed type with a serious chance at the weights. And the Fasiliev colt is selected to get the better of Pivotal Point - with the frustrating Aversham expected to fight it out with Anuvasteel for the minor honours. It has to be considered as significant that the Hannon team have been selective with their plans for Binnion Bay after describing him as 'a fun horse' following his gutsy victory in a Goodwood maiden earlier in the season - that form has worked out really well with four of the field going on to record wins in god company as the season has progressed; Nights Cross being the most notable as a Listed Race winner in Ireland before chasing home Majestic Missile in the Cornwallis Stakes earlier this month. As Binnion Bay is bred to appreciate at least a mile in time, the step up in trip should not represent too much of a problem. But of more concern would be his 164-day absence from the track. However, that is likely to be factored into his price when the betting market opens in earnest and he may be sent off with a fair offer if punters take a negative view of his lack of experience. Nevertheless Binnion Bay faces some largely exposed rivals today and it could simple be that Hannon has been waiting for easy pickings for his charge.
