Verdict

Only four runners here, but there's not much between them on recent form so it could still be a decent betting heat, and the one who is guaranteed to like the conditions is Amadeus, who is fancied to score and Silvergino is taken to chase him home. Gypsy Cricketer faces a stiff task from nine pounds out of the handicap, but Get The Point is potentially well handicapped on his old form and ran his best race for some time when third at Market Rasen last time. Silvergino was bang in contention when falling five out in a valuable handicap at Stratford last time and had earlier run well when third at Wetherby. He has to be feared here under paddy Brennan, but preference goes to Amadeus. He has been running reasonably well lately, although he has been a beaten favourite and slightly disappointing on his last two starts, including most recently when fourth to College City at Uttoxeter. The significant factor here could be that Amadeus' last two wins over hurdles came on soft ground at Hexham and heavy ground at Chepstow, so on what appears to be a fair handicap mark he is taken to land this finale.
