In depth
Verdict
A terrible contest for those who love quality, but for those who simply want to back winners then this looks a good opportunity for Charlie Mann's Mystic Forest, who can take it from Tennant Creek and Jardin Fleuri. The selection is a newcomer to hurdling, having had just two outings so far. Travelling well when falling first time out at Perth, he was not disgraced when a fair way behind the winner at Market Rasen last time and with confidence restored and a bit of knowledge to call upon here, he can make it third time lucky. Tennant Creek makes his hurdling debut here, but do not let that put you off. Given a pipe opener in a Hereford bumper last month, Emma Lavelle will have him well schooled and it would be no surprise to see him run a big race here against some very weak opposition. He may even be good enough to win, though a place would seem more likely at his first attempt. The rest are very ordinary, though Martin Pipe is persevering with Jardin Fleuri after two abortive attempts on fast ground so far. Clearly, the gelding merits respect and could claim a place if getting round, but being by Cyborg he might be better employed when the rains come. So we will stick with Mystic Forest.
