Verdict

Several in-form animals on show including Hov, Newcorp Lad and dual course and distance winner Maritime Blues, who gets the vote to continue winning ways. James Given's colt has improved leaps and bounds of late and his defeat of Individual Talents here last week, was given a boost when the latter was only just denied in a photo at Yarmouth in the week, having been given plenty to do. Despite his penalty, he is the one they all have to beat. There is nothing wrong with the form of Newcorp Lad, who was denied a three timer here, when just touched off by Vortex, who has since gone on to win on the All-Weather. He too is a progressive colt and is not one to dismiss lightly. Dual All-Weather winner Hov may be capable of better than he showed at Beverley, as he tended to race more towards the centre of the track that day, not the place to be. He should again take care of Prince Of Gold on these terms. The latter has since passed a stalls test having given trouble at the start on his last outing. Leo Boy and Strategy are worthy of respect if only for their powerful connections, but Maritime Blues is a fast improving colt and still looks to be well in despite his penalty.
