A low grade handicap, but several of these are in good nick and it should be quite competitive. Apache Point, Buscador, Mujkari and Persian Pearl were all winners last time out, but it is the latter that catches the eye and Hugh Collingridge's filly is taken to keep her run going. Lightly raced this summer, she is unlucky not to come here unbeaten in her last three outings, as she really ought to have won an Amateur riders event at Yarmouth back in May, where her Amateur rider was outridden. She has put matters right since, winning a couple of minor contests and although she has risen accordingly in the weights, she is clearly on the upgrade. The Handicapper has left Apache Point on the same mark as when winning a weak 0-65 Classified event at Hamilton and it will be a surprise if he is good enough in this more competitive contest, but Buscador is another matter. Mark Brisbourne's gelding has been in good form on the All-Weather, winning twice and although he has yet to prove himself on turf, it would be dangerous to underestimate him. Mujkari is interesting as the horse he beat at Chepstow, Blue Trojan, absolutely bolted up at Leicester on Wednesday evening. Even though he has a 6lbs penalty, he is actually only 4lbs higher for that win and he may provide the biggest threat to the filly Persian Pearl.
