In depth
Verdict
A weak affair in which Polly Plunkett and Caroubier are likely to be towards the head of the market. Mark Brisbourne's top-weight produced two creditable efforts over a mile at Pontefract and Newcastle during the month of May. His run over further at Chester can be forgiven and with Mark Flynn aboard, he stands a fighting chance. Caroubier had become difficult to win with when in the care of Jamie Osborne but he is with a trainer who could inspire improvement. While his turf form is modest, this is a contest that won't take too much winning. Eight furlongs should suit Mandarin Spirit on breeding and the market is watched with regard to Sir Mark Prescott's representative. First Footing had decent two-year-old form but has yet to show too much this year. That said, the Bell team are in better form and he could go well at a prize. Atheer and Baileys Imperial hail from decent yards but their performances have yet to set the world alight.
