In depth

Verdict

HIGHLAND PARK, a full brother to Leocorno and a half-brother to Tartan Bearer and Golan, can find enough improvement to reverse Pontefract form with Weathervane and take this race. It's perhaps significant that all three of those illustrious siblings won their second starts and while we'd have preferred to see Highland Park racing over 1m4f, it was perhaps inexperience rather than a lack of pace that saw him off the bridle at an early stage on his debut, when Weathervane finished a place ahead of him. John Gosden's filly is beginning to look exposed and a BHA rating of 77 leaves her with improving to do, so Henry Cecil's 80-rated Protaras may be a bigger threat. He's not been seen since taking a head second at Windsor in the spring but that effort does set the standard. Of the rest, Arabian History makes most appeal ahead of his debut and a market check is advised.
