In depth

Verdict

An open handicap where plenty have chances and the shortlist includes: Field Spark, who has gone well in both his previous starts at the track, Jungle Lion, who held his form well on the all weather through the winter, and Tom Bell, who gets in here off a featherweight for his second start of the new season. However, slender preference is for Astromancer, who should be ideally suited to this drop back in trip. Her rider's 7lb claim will also make things a little easier for the Mark Tompkins-trained filly and she should make a bold bid on a track that should suit her style of running. Golden Dual is another to note in the betting if the market suggests his wide draw is not going to be a significant hindrance in this company.
