In depth

Verdict

A very open race in which the tentative vote goes to Morristown Music ahead of Hammer Of The Gods and Monte Major. The selection looks sure to improve markedly for his recent reappearance and John Wainwright's gelding should show up a lot more today. Whilst his mark of 63 looks high enough, his rider takes off a valuable 7lbs and he gets the nod. Proud Killer has claims if this drop in trip works the oracle, whilst Rothesay Dancer has conditions to suit and could be a big player, especially if successful at Ripon on Thursday. Hammer Of The Gods has been in fair form of late on the all-weather but whilst he comes here in good form, he has never won on turf and thus is taken on. Similarly Monte Major would be a player but is yet to win on the green stuff, whilst Niteowl Lad has blinkers on for the first time in the hope of bringing about some improvement. Sea Land is a potential improver for a recent run, whilst Black Moma should appreciate a return to grass after a fruitless spell on the all-weather. An open affair, with Morristown Music given the tentative vote.
