Verdict

TAFAOOL looks likely to be a warm order and can make amends for defeat at Newmarket with Big Bay and Aspro Mavro set for the places. The filly reappeared in a race that her trainer had a good record in and was backed as though defeat was unthinkable but she failed to come up with the goods and was ultimately well held. However, the form looks better than it did at the time as the runner-up won a handicap from 97 on his latest start whilst the winner scored from 90. Big Bay has been allotted a mark of 85 which suggests that he'll be a live challenger if able to run to that perch and there's certainly no comparison between the field that he faced in the Brittania and this line-up. It's a measure of the task facing Aspro Mavro that he has 10lbs to find with the Chapple-Hyam runner and it's not difficult to pick holes in this season's efforts. Lastroseofsummer is by far and away the most interesting of the remainder as this 50,000 guineas purchase is related to some useful performers and she's worth keeping an eye on as she makes a belated debut. This is a typical end of season maiden but it has thrown up an interesting match with Tafaool taken to score.
