      Verdict

We are looking to the lady trainers to take this prize and Greenwich Meantime could be the one, with The Ring and Malarkey set to fight out the places. Linda Ramsden's gelding progressed with each outing last term when trained by Henry Cecil and ended the season with an emphatic victory over some decent enough types up at Newcastle., the handicapper has taken no chances with this one, but with improvement expected he does appear to have a great chance. Mary Reveley trains The Ring who also ended last season on a high note, winning a Newcastle handicap in game fashion. Steff Liddiard is responsible for Malarkey, who is fit from a spell on the all-weather, and could possibly sneak a place at big odds. Of the remaider Michael Bell's Somoma was consistent sort in 2003 and is worth a mention, but Greenwich Meantime could be ready to strike and is given the nod.
