In depth
Verdict
Quantity not quality for a final event and it could rest between McQueen and Lucayan Dancer, with the first named edging the decision, Young Rooney may do best of the others. Heather Dalton's gelding comes here in tremendous form having easily accounted for Cormorant Wharf in an apprentice handicap at Newbury last time. This race is no stronger and he should be capable of landing back to back victories. Lucayan Dancer has hit form recently, winning an apprentice event at Pontefract before finishing close to the winners in similar events at Newcastle and Doncaster, another bold showing is expected. Young Rooney has been knocking on the door recently in slightly better company so could be fighting for at least place money. The remainder appear to be out of form so it is not a very competitive handicap and McQueen is a confident choice.
