          Verdict

          A wide open affair can go Ruby Legend, with other recent winners True Companion and Rotuma holding claims as well. The latter was not winning out of turn at Ayr, having posted any number of placed efforts since scoring at Hamilton in may, and should go well here. True Companion finally came good at Newbury recently thanks to a good ride from today's pilot in what was an apprentice event. This is a bit tougher but maybe a place awaits Nick Littmoden's charge. For the winner though, we select Ruby Legend who normally saves his best efforts for Newcastle, his last three victories coming there. However he lines up in form and makes the relatively short trip from Mary Reveley's Saltburn base. He is not badly weighted, will go on the ground and is fit. Three good reasons for siding with Ruby Legend.
