In depth
Verdict
In a fairly tricky affair, George Stubbs gets a narrow vote over Real Cool Cat, Ego Trip and York Cliff. The selection came back to form with a good second at Hamilton last time and this two-mile course winner remains well-weighted if at of near his best. He can go well given a positive ride. Real Cool Cat comes here on a roll having won his last two races. The downsides, though, are that he is seven pounds higher for the latest of those victories and he is unproven on soft going. However, he cannot be ruled out of things. Sahaat and Rutters Rebel seem to have lost their way of late, while Overstrand is better known for his hurdling exploits these days. Ego Trip is now back to a competitive mark and, with proven ability on the going, must enter calculations, but Tiger Frog seems best on faster going and Wizard Looking is unproven on the prevailing going, but York Cliff could yet have more improvement in him at today's trip. Finally, Cayman Gift came back to form last time and might sneak a place, while Rosie Mac might improve for the easy going. Overall, though, the vote goes to George Stubbs.
