In depth

Verdict

It would be a surprise if Settlement Craic wasn't up to taking this and he is taken to score at the main expense of Coventina and Golden Quest. The selection is a big scopey horse who ran well last time out when defeating Muzio Scevola. He had previously run well behind Brunel at Salisbury who franked the form by going in at Newmarket yesterday. His trainer Terry Mills has travelled a long way from his Epsom base and he is the one they all have to beat. Golden Quest hails from the in-form Mark Johnston yard and he rates an obvious danger, especially as he has run well on both his starts so far on the AW. Coventina was making his seasonal reappearance when well-beaten at Doncaster last time, but he was doing his best work at the finish and will appreciate the step-up in trip so he could be capable of a big run. Of the rest, Messe Du Minuit won well on the AW last time when defeating Suave Quartet and he is a well-bred sort, but he may just need this, his first run of the season. This is a fascinating contest with some potentially useful types in opposition, but we will give the nomination to Settlement Craic.
