          Verdict

          This is the first running of a consolation race for the feature on the card and punters will doubtless be hoping for clues as the outcome of that prize. Ruth Carr does well with her runners at the course and both Beckermet, and top-weighted Head Space, are sure to go close if the race falls in either of their respective favours. Spinatrix and Caranbola renew rivalries having fought out a sustained battle over C&D, but if there isn't too much in the way of rain, they may find L'AMI LOUIS too strong. Henry Candy's charge needs to reverse Newmarket form with Trade Secret, though he should be capable of doing so at the revised terms. Oneladyowner has looked the sort that could pop up at a price in a big handicap despite posting some disappointing efforts along the way. Tajneed is now heading towards the twilight of his career and the 2008 winner of the Great St Wilfrid showed that he retains a modicum of ability with two recent successes in claimers.
